I came across this today on one of my favorite blogs, Mommycoddle. I think when I can get this concept down pat, I might be well on my way to being a decent mother.
…there’s still tomorrow. Except for a few things…
Tomorrow, my children will be a little bit older.
And tomorrow they’ll be carrying around memories of yesterday.
And I can stand behind them and rush, rush, rush them through to tomorrow.
Or I can stay with them, and alongside them, and savor them. Today.
i am re-reading Les Miserables for the umpteenth time, and this bit i read today made me think of you:”the goodness of the mother is written in the gaiety of the child.”
oh, well, if that’s all it takes, i think i’ve got it, because these boys definitely exude gaity!
Love that quote. You know that we are going through a really tough time but the most important things I can do is try to make the kids happy. That is why we are going though with the divorce. Once the kids see a happy mom, they will hopefully be happier in turn.
